image phpnuke: Beware!: SSPPYY Software ... is it a Rip-Off or a Fraud or both !?!?! image
Computer Cops
ph writes "I purchased ssppyy pro software from www.ssppyy.com
they immediately charged my credit card for the amount of $99.95 and I had the software downloaded. However, within few hours I discovered that the software didn't work as advertised and was full of bugs.
It crashed my PC time after time. I informed the company immediately who asked me first to send a fax confirming the purchase which I did, but after that they did absolutely nothing to help me solve the bugs and to get the software working.
I kept trying to test it on my own, I also tried to test a module by sending it to my cousin and this is the reply I got from him:

Quote

i already installed the module which you sent to me and would like to thank u for this great software of yours.
my restore points are all gone
i can not do or run search on my PC (stopped responding)
can not access the internet properly
my internal LAN stopped functioning, i cant access other computers in my office
the PC started to hang and malfunction
is that enough or u need more , it caused me troubles and still i dont know the result of this experiment, i will reformat my PC and all thanks to your spyyware.

This software is worse than any virus I have come across. Its like downloading the plague to your PC.

To add insult to injury, the software stopped working saying that I reached my allowed limit to create modules and I had to pay another $99.95. There is absolutely nothing in their website or documentation indicating this !

I contacted ssppyy.com time after time asking for a refund because their software doesn't work but they never bothered to answer. However, after insisting I finally received the following reply from them:

Quote

Yes it doesn't work for morans
go to school learn it will be goood start

Thank you

People should be warned that this is a rip-off site run by a tin-pot guy with a fancy website but nothing else and tricking people into purchasing something that doesn't exist."

lesson learned.........
moral of the story: always.....always look at the contact us=link.

1. check for a brick and mortar address
2. check and contact via phone first......
3. How far can you throw a baby grand piano?
4. That's how far you can trust any un-corroborated info from the former JaneFonda Network (CNN) and the BxxxxxxxBC (BBC)

This is why one must do the following when evaluating software today:

Find out what other products (if any) they sell and the reviews of these tools.

Find out who supports these people, as noted Tucows advertises their products, complain to tucows about misleading advertising.

(It is illegal to advertise products that don't do what they claim.)

Check them out via the BBB Online. Any complaints should be evaluated on their individual merit. Don't think just because they have a complaint that they are no good. But if they have 20 complaints identical to yours, then I would be very wary. This may not lead any info so...

Read reviews and comments on the internet. Yes this means research, this means putting serious time aside to evaluate this.

Evaluate the software before you buy!! If you cannot try it out (I think anything less than 30 days is pathetic!) go find something else.

(soapbox)
Now since your buying greyhat warez, you shouldn't be totally surprised with the outcome.
When you install software that will spy on users it does things that have a high degree of conflict with other legitimate applications. Evaluating these potential conflicts before putting it live is a wise idea. However I understand having teenager's and dealing with their internet usage =) I wish you luck, but I agree with the last commentor, you should sit down and find out more about these 46 contacts, even review her usage logs if you feel something isn't right, or she isn't telling you the whole story.
(/soapbox)

Better luck next time.
J.

These guys (www.ssppyy.com) are Cyber Crooks. You see them advertised everywhere. They use logos of many big names in their web site without the knowledge or the authorisation of the respective companies. Someone must stop this scam and send them to hell where they belong.

Regarding our Editor's Pick logo which appears in the web site of www.ssppyy.com, I would like to confirm that we never issued an award to them. We have sent them a letter to stop using our name in their site.

They submitted their product for listing last year, but we rejected it.

This spyware is easily detected by Anti-Trojan programs which can remove it in a blink. Its also detected and stopped by personal firewalls. Actually, it asks the user to give it permission to access the Internet !! so much for cloak and dagger !!

It looks like these guys will need to sit down and rewrite their 'undetectable' Spyware.
