|

Hi,
I've been having some seriously annoying problems with my computer! First of all, i can only run one instance/window for internet explorer or yahoo explorer, and if i run more than one window or a popup is opened i get an error message linking to a file in C:\documents and settings\michael\local settings\temp followed by the subdirectroy of wer[].tmp.dir00 containing a text file called appcompat (the [] in wer[].tmp.dir00 indicates that the number after wer veries depending on the program that had the problem).
I first had this problem with carmageddon 2 and then recently with IE and yahoo browser since i got broadband. I have run a virus scan with panda titanium and i have "hijack this", although i do not know how to export its results to a message without having to type them out; is there another way?
Any response would be gratefully recieved!
Thanks for your time!
My system specs are as follows (if it helps a solution to be formulated):
KT4V series ATX motherboard
Athlon XP 2100+ @1.73GHz
512MB PC2700 DDRRAM
Gainward GeForce 4 Ti4200
(I am running windows XP home edition with all automatic updates installed) |

I have attached the log file from Hijack This.
The problem with my computer is its evil and recent habit of throwing up error messages (of the "send this complaint ot microsoft" variety) relating to a species of files (varying in directory and contents depending on the program it was created in reference to) named "appcompat.txt".
Does this log contain anything that would cause IE to close under an error as above when more than one window begins to open?
Or is the file due to the recent addition of the Yahoo browser since i changed isp's?
Any responce would be gratefully recieved!
Thanks
This is the contents of the log file from Hijack This' scan:
