The answer is to use a different browser I think. If you use Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox, or even Opera, you will have a built in Pop Up Stopper, and much better security. I use Firefox, and have forgotten what a pop up looks like! |

Delgado is right. It's a great browser, and also more secure then IE because its not as popular and not as closely knit to the operating system. It's only in beta right now, but still runs better then IE. Get it here:

The AOL toolbar is bundled with malware. I would advise anyone against using it, like a few other AOL products. There are plenty of alternatives out there, a few mentioned here. |

I'm happy with the popup blocker built in to Netscape7, but has anyone any ideas on how you can stop those irritating audio adverts that come up with some websites? I'm getting more than a bit fedup with being told I can get a college degree |

The best way to stop those is not to load Macromedia Flash. This tool has been greatly abused by advertisers and is the source of many annoying and noisy pop-ups. I don't have it loaded on my system at all now that 90% of the time its just used to display ads (MSN is a big culprit of this). |

Thanks for this info.
I'm a bit stumped for a solution for me though, as some of my favourite sites use Flash a lot.
I guess I'll put up with them until & unless they get more frequent.

The problem with ad-muncher is it's not free. Moving from IE to Mozilla Firefox is free, and you get the built in pop-up blocker. I haven't seen a pop-up since I started using it a month ago. |
