The New GT 40, now this is a hot rod!
The powerplant is an all-American V-8 from Ford's modular engine family. The MOD 5.4-liter V-8 in the GT40 concept features aluminum four-valve heads, forged crankshaft, H-beam forged rods and aluminum pistons fed by a supercharger, all combining to make more than 500 horsepower and 500 foot-pounds of torque. These figures match or exceed those of the most powerful period GT40, a car that could handily top 200 mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans. Because of the supercharger and high-revving, free-breathing valvetrain, the new car produces this astounding power from an efficient 5.4-liter V-8 engine. The power is put to the road through an RBT six-speed manual |

Problem is, the GT 40 is no longer an All-American car.
Body built in UK.
Steering is Aston Martin.
Brakes are Italian.
Suspension by Lotus.
Just seen it road tested. It is one great car, a real Ferrari eater. Looks good, sounds fantastic and, for once, the US have built a sports car that can also go fast around corners.
This just has to be entered for the Le Mans 24hrs! |

The guy testing the car was Jeremy Clarkson a Brit motoring hack.
He tested in and around Motor City. In the City filming, he had a four car police escort to keep people out of the way. The police cleared the city centre so Clarkson could open the car up. He was doing speeds in excess of 125mph in the middle of town. The police just let him get on with it!
Did some testing in open country. I say open, but it was some nice twisty bits to show that the Henry could corner as well as it goes in a straight line. And, boy did it ever.
I want one and l want it now!!! |

sorry to say but the blue oval hasen't had anyhting good to offer since the mustang boss. and even that was a little on the poor side. fords were the bottom of the barrel untill hyundai came oin the scene. its sad really, generations of ford lovers, blinded to the modern day crap that ford churnes out, because they are still holding on to the hope that one day, ford just might have a come back. now i will admit, the stuff ford has been tinkering with, (the GT the Cobra, the mustang concept...) has been intriuging. but it is only a glimps of what may be to come. its really a shame, ford, chevy, and dodge could be building some actually good stuff, but refuse to step into the modern day and realize that honda, toyota, and nissan have been curning out for years are high quality, and adapt extremely well to mods and last forever.
to all you domestic heads, let me just stop you from posting you rebuttle. I am not a ricer, i do not think yellow stripes and/or chrome add horsepower. i simply believe that if your going to buy a car, it might as well last past 150,000 miles. and NONE of the domestics can do that with any regularity. hell i've seen mustangs with 67,000 miles going to the trash heap, with horrible paint, blown motors, and some of the worst goddamn seat cracks you may ever see. whilst my 190.000 mi daily driven Toyota Tercel doesn't have any age related problems. and my 120,000 Civic hatch runs an all motor 13.5. and my dads 74,000 mi chevy is in need of an overhaul, badly. |

Point taken, see Jeeps Rule, pretty much sums it up.
Gotta love that GT40 though, if for no other reason than it'd be good to see it back at Le Mans. It can eat Ferrari's for breakfast. 100Bhp more and TWICE the torque plus it looks and sounds fantastic. |
