This is my very, very post on ths BB.
Seems like this place is not visited a lot.
I realize this is as infantile as it can get - It's like a mountain climb, sort of, for me.
And I probably could not have started it at a time I had less to say than now - But here it is.
I am a Christian, a disciple of Christ.
I believe that the gospel not only offers forgiveness of sins, but freedom and victory over all sin.
I do not believe in what some call 'sinless perfection'.
I believe in what the Bible says.
I'm not going to refer to any verses just yet, unless someone wants to challenge me about what I testify is really written.
If you know the Bible at all, then you'll know about what I'm referring to when I refer to it.
In any case, I believe that every person has sin.
That is, the agent of sin.
Therefore we can all be tempted.
I believe that when Jesus came, he came with a body like ours with sin in his flesh just like the rest of us.
Therefore he could be tempted just like we are, yet he never committed sin.
That is, the agent of sin in his own flesh never got power over him. It never got into his heart.
When He went to the cross, He offered himself without blemish to God for us.
God raised Him from the dead so that we could begin to live a new life.
It is possible to walk in His footsteps.
He has promised the Holy Spirit to guide us and empower us to do it.
That is the life I sense in my heart I have been called to.
The life I read about in the Bible.
My faith is tested everyday, many times a day in every temptation I come into.
Christianity is war.
War against sinning.
I have been saved by Jesus death to live his life.
I do not believe any one can earn anything from God by good works, but that we have been created by God to do good works.
Our reward is the fruit of those works.
I do not believe that we will all be equal when we get to heaven.
There will be many groups, and each group will have people with varying degrees of content according to the life they lived while here on earth.
The thief on the cross will not have the same content in heaven as someone who made use of many opportunities in daily life to be filled with God’s fulness.
I have met many people who claim to believe in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins who do not believe that they can come to victory over sin in their daily life.
This is a very sad state of affairs.
And there are many ‘ministers’ who by their ministry keep many of these people in this condition.
But there are those who work with God to lead people to what is actually written in the Bible.
That it is abundantly possible to live a godly, victorious life in God – for all things are possible to him who believes.
For people, who like myself believe the gospel as it is presented in the Bible by the apostles, there will be a rich entrance into the kingdom of heaven.
For example, Jesus said, “Do not judge…”.
It should not take an upright soul very long to realize that judging is like the very fabric of our being.
It is sin.
Many times a day we are tempted to judge, and that is if we are awake and in the leading of the spirit.
But to be tempted to commit sin is not the same as having committed sin.
Jesus said that, “…if any man would be my disciple, then let him deny himself…”.
Instead of judging others, we can judge ourselves.
We can acknowledge from our hearts to God our need to overcome the sin we see in our flesh that is causing us to be tempted.
He will help us!
God is very patient.
He will never give up trying to teach us to find the footsteps of Christ who, when he was tempted, committed no sin but committed himself to God.
And it’s a great blessing when you can find fellowship with other people who believe this same gospel.
If you have not heard anything like what I am writing here, and you have been a believer who has been struggling against sin in your life because you sense that you should really be having victory but you don’t because you aren’t sure that it is possible, then rejoice!
Because you have just found a link that can be a source of real hope for the victorious life you have been longing for.
I have to go for now.

Peace

I am a Christian as well. Although I prefer the term someone used once. "A rider in Christ's Army"
The term Christian in todays world has become very watered down and hypocritical of what Christ has taught.
So, I am a rider in Christ's Army and I have been set free from the bondage of sin.
Good to see other Christians here.

MrsHoppes, If you want to talk about Bondage. you will be needing Ye Olde Donut Shoppe.

Tornfree, you have to be the saddest headcase I have ever come accross and I fear for your sanity. You are too far gone to rescue, although you will no doubt claim that it is you who has been recued.

If you do not sin in the first place you will not need forgiving. (cobbler2u chapter 6 verse 9)
May the crew of Starship Enterprise protect us from your rantings.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

What the saints established that I hold for true.
What the saints believèd, that I believe too.
Long as earth endureth, men the faith will hold,
Kingdoms, nations, empires, in destruction rolled.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise, and that cannot fail.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud and honor unto Christ the King,
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

Your'e into that Bondage thing again aren't you! (Royal Master, Know a few of those decent chaps at heart, Judges Lawyers Polititions)

Why me Lord,
What have I ever done
To deserve even one,
Of the pleasures I've known

Post the whole song up Mrs H and I will forgive you for your sins.

Well the Soldiers of Christ has been used by both the Jesuits and the Salvation Army. If you think that the Salvation Army is not a force for good and that the Jesuits did nothing for education, then you need to evolve a little bit into a human being.

Wow!
Nice to see another with a mind of their own looking at the situation from the outside.

Jammin,
If you belong to the Salvation Army I salute you, although I believe all religion is claptrap your organisation has my highest regards for the international help given to those in genuine need.
Dont know why you didn't help "eatmoredirt" in his hour of need though!

Let me add to that the good work performed by the Knights of Columbus.

Ah yes, ye ol' good works. Possibly a psychological defence mechanism triggered by associative guilt at the horrors inflicted upon the "flock" throughout history. (gawd as wolf in sheeps clothing). Oh sure, religion has contributed some good to the world, but then, so has satan. After all, without the devil it would all be rather pointless, wouldn't it? Prostration and abject mindless worship for it's own sake? Wouldn't work. So the PR Dept.kicked into high gear. Although it took religion somewhat longer to reinvent satan than it did to come up with the concept of "God" (somewhat of a no-brainer in itself: some one\thing had to be responsible for lousy hunting and things that go bump in the night). Here's a thought. The devil seems to have purpose that works in god's favor, ergo; the devil must be good.
Ok, slow down, take a deep breath, count to ten.....
Save some of that, 'cause the best is yet to come.
You see, admittedly I don't know all about god, although I know a little about her, because, well, they say it's impossible to really know yourself. You read it right, pilgrim. I, ekrubtap, am god (or God, if you prefer). No,no,no...no worship or any of that baggage necessary. It's true, let the bells ring and the banners fly, I have met god and I am her. Well I can tell you're not really enamoured with this turn of events. Tell you what, though. Notice I made no claim to exclusivity ('course not, tough to get around the apoplexy.) you see, you are god, too. As are your friends and neighbors, enemies, people who aren't beige, rotarians, women dying of aids in Africa, yaweh's witnesses, sally anners ("blood and glory" phew...some motto), the Cubs, in fact the whole spectrum of humanity. I would go on to include the animal kingdom, plants, rocks earth, moon, solar system, universes....the whole vast panoply of stardust, which we are,,,,,however, one spoonful at a time. So for now let's call god the collective human conciousness. God R Us. And you know what? Our performance evaluations have been somewhat lacking since, well....forever. We're increasingly in danger of losing this job. And that would be a sin.....

PS...for those of you asstute (sic) enough to notice that "ekrubtap" and "beelzebub" chanted together monotonally one hundred and eleven times consists of 666 syllables, I assure you the coincidence is pure happenstance. No, really....
