Who do you think will be the next president of the united states?
Me personally I think that John Kerry would win. That does'nt mean, I'm going to vote for him though. I think its bad luck to tell people who your going to vote on. |

It would be a mistake to change horses in the middle of a war. |

Never believe anything about a politician, until he has made an official denial

And since the Bush/Ashcroft dynasty would absolutely love to stay in power indefinitely (and have stated that the "war" on "terrorism" is going to takes decades - at least!) then I'm sure we should just go ahead and cancel all future elections until they get "done" with that "war".
Show me a legal declaration of war - on any country. You can't.
Simply amazes me how some otherwise relatively intellligent people can have such knee-jerk, brain-dead reactions as that.
The fact of the matter is that the current Republican administration is making us pay to have our own Constitution and Bill of Rights destroyed by them.
You're either a fool or a dupe, Jamming. That wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the fact that other people might make the same naive (at least I hope that's what they are) mistakes in thinking that you're making and actually pay attention to what you're saying.
I'll be back tomorrow with links about the latest threats - try reading them with an open mind (for a change). Pete

Hmmm, I don't think this is quite necessary here spy1. We all have ideas and opinions and, as far as I can see, in a war both sides "think" they are right.
Your opinions and ideas, despite whatever info you may find to back your case doesn't give you rights to get personal or consider that you are the holder of the 'right' info.
So enjoy your time here but keep it friendly
all Jamming did was throw out a one liner. I see you didn't pick me up on my one liner about polititions and bull sperm!

That's OK, Spy1 doesn't have an opinion that could bother me. He sees everything through his special glasses, if there was a country that would stand up in support of the terrorists we would declare a war. It is funny as we are supposedly destroying our Consitution, that the Courts and Congress keep functioning. That Spy1 is able to protest and not be silenced, by this supposed draconian government bent upon destroying his freedoms. That elections are still planned this fall and the Press is still publishing without government censors reviewing every headline. |

Hey Jamming,
I was just upset that he picked on your oneliner and not mine. I thought I was supposed to be the comedian around here.
As you say though, the more that people get up in arms and throw their weight around complaining about the lack of free speech, the more it is evident that free speech exists

Hey Blast,
You are the comedian around here. But if I wanted to, I could take your job.
It would'nt matter who becomes president of the united states because the war on terrorism will still go on. Unless the united states catch bin laden, we will still be at war.

Remarks made on a website don't really put you under the microscope the way that actually getting out and protesting these kinds of things does - at best, you can get the kinds of people that read this type of forum to think - and hopefully act before it's too late.
However, take a look at this page: http://www.aclu.org/SafeandFree/Safeand...2942&c=207 and read some of the links off of THAT one - protesting a REAL life (out in public) can - and has - had consequences.
Or weren't you aware of any of that? Pete |

The ACLU didn't miraculously appear at the time of the Patriot Act to smite all evil of the Bush Administration. The ACLU is a politically motivated group that uses what scares people to motivate fund raising. Which is why they did not assist the unwarrented federal government usurpation of the state family courts in the Miami Cuban Child Crisis, by sending in armed agents of the federal government into a home and point an Automatic Weapon in the direction of the little boy and the good man who rescued him from the sea. |

The A.C.L.U site isn't by any means the only one I quote from, jamming - nor is it the only source of the information involved.
I use it frequently because they have the most stream-lined, efficient methods in place for contacting your representative on an issue - any issue that they cover. News organizations that report the same things couldn't care less if you do anything about the information or not - they just put it out there.
As far as them using "scare" tactics to raise funds - it hasn't worked here (I've never sent them a dime nor am I a member) - and the so-called "scare" tactics involve information that is vital to anyone who's concerned about the state of actual threats to the freedoms of American citizens in this country.
What has the source got to do with the subject-at-hand, anyway - as long as the facts are right?
I used to feel the same way about the ACLU as you apparently do, jamming - but you've got to remember, you get to pick and choose which issues that they present that you add your voice to - and even how you do so.
Take something that they have an alert about that you totally don't agree with - you can still use the communication tools within their site to let your voice be heard to the same representatives with how you actually feel about it by simply deleting the aclu's message and inserting your own! Truthfully, it's a "no-lose" means of having your voice heard if you take the time to think about it.
And thinking and learning and acting are absolutely a requirement these days - everything you need to know is multi-fronted, partially or totally obscured or flat-out secretive in nature - but all of it that's happening must be dealt with.
We may disagree or things, but by God you'll never wake up one day and be able to say "Hey! I didn't know they were going to do that!" in relation to anything freedom-related - because I'm going to keep on doing my best to make sure that you (and everyone else) knows what's going on.
Do you think for a second that it's not just as painful to me to tell this stuff as (apparently) it is for you (and others) to hear it - and recognize what's happening?
Trust me - it is. It's a soul-killer to see what's happening to the spirit and the letter of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, to the concept of what America is and what it means to be an American citizen(and the demeaning of that).
It's even worse to see people's reactions when you bring them face-to-face with the truth of what's going on in this country - the absolute rejection of that truth, the sarcasm, the attacks on the "bearer" and worst of all, the total lack of interest in all these things period.
The lack-of-interest, or the denial of these things will more surely and more swiftly lead to the total destruction of America as we know it more now than at any other time in our history.
It can't be allowed to happen. Pete |
