Idea
Since most - if not all - bounced email goes to someone or somewhere other than the spammer who sent it, something else needs to be tried. In the "Read Mail" window in the Pro version, occasionally the spam originator's email address or website appears there and is different from the phony one that gets bounced.
It may be beneficial in future versions to allow one to select an optional "bounce-to" address just to make certain the originator is getting the bounced email and, in effect, getting his own spam back.

Oh, I like the idea of an "auto-process" too instead of manually doing it.

Hey, I've got an idea. How about the bounce feature actually works. I've used almost every version released since Sept. 2002 with MSN as my ISP (location USA), and have not bounced 1 email. While I do like the the rest of the program and think it is a great concept, how can I be expected to pay for it when it doesn't even work as advertised. I do realize that I am probably in the severe minority on this issue, but that has still kept me from becoming a registered user and forking out even a dime for it. Show me it works, and you can have my money.

How about verifying that the reply-to domain actually exists?

My spam emal account has a lot of emails from non-existant domains like as well as . MWP can do the lookup on the domain to verify it is a vaild email address. if the mail server doesn't recognize the user, it's not valid and deletes it (no point bouncing a non-existant email address).

I don't have any hurry about MW appearance, but I really like if the auto process and close to tray was implemented soon.

Also an option for right click - over icon in tray - "process now"

I'd like to have the follow occur without having to resort to a 3rd party plug-in:

1. Click "Process Mail"
2. MW does its thing
3. MW then minimizes automatically
4. A Send/Receive command is sent to my email client

Using the plug-in that came out for 1.x, I have everything but #3 now. However, I see in these forums that that plug-in won't install directly into MWPro. Apparently it works on mine because I upgraded over MW 1.3, but that's not an option for everyone. Besides, when I go to upgrade machines I'd like to have it as part of MWPro rather than having to go through an advanced install, ie. 1.3x, plug-in, then PWPro.

I would like to be able to use more wildcards (*) in the blacklisted e-mail addresses. I get a lot of email from obviously the same person but the domain is always a little different. Example:
*@45.bestdeal.com
*@35.bestdeal.com
*@22.bestdeal.com
I would like to use the wildcard(*) after the "@" in the domain name. I can blacklist the entire domain but that doesn't handle the problem entirely.

Arrow staylor,

Idea I think using *@*.bestdeal.com will work for this situation.

I have two tray related suggestions:

1. Go back to the old single click on the tray icon to open the app, rather than double click.

2. When the tray icon changes to indicate new mail, give us an option for it to NOT blink. For me, the blinking is extremely distracting and means that I must read my mail immediately, whether I want to or not.

Personal prefs for next update are:

  • Auto-process,
  • Add filter rule based on the account the message is from,
  • Ability to supress errors so they don't hault further execution,
  • Correct catch-all bouncing.

Option of smaller buttons would be good too.

Don't want much do I Wink

Another much needed option, imo:

[x] don't indicate arrival of new mail, if new mail is hidden (through filter)

I'm often clicking the blinking icon, only to find out that the new email I received is not being displayed, because of a filter. I use such filters for high traffic mailinglists (flashcoders, for example) and it would be great if the 'new mail icon' would not appear if email is being filtered out by such a filter.

Even if you don't add options to control blinking, how about this: If blinking starts because there is new mail in the inbox, and I ignore mwpro and take care of the inbox with my mail client, so that now the inbox is empty, TURN OFF THE BLINKING on the next check, eh?

I'd like a way to disable the automatic marking (esp. bounce) when the message is flagged as blocked by one of the DNS blacklist servers. Way too many messages get listed as blocked. I'd like to select actions manually.
