Does MailWasher crash for you? Some people say it crashes all the time - I expect that is their setup. I have used MailWahser for over 6 months now and I don't remember it crashing once.
Please take the poll and add a post with details if you wish!

I tried to vote but got the message No post mode specified. Maybe polls are not working on this forum!? |

"suspect it is their setup"
i suspect it is that mailwasher is unstable and can't handle very normal setups.
glad it works for you but for me it doesn't on two different computers running XP Pro.
it didn't work for me under WinME or Win98 either. same crashing problems.
there's nothing special about my setup. and mailwasher is the only thing that won't run without crashing. |

Yah the vote feature is buggy right now, I'll start working on it in a couple days. |

under xp pro it doesn't crash the whole system, thankfully. in winME it crashed the OS.
i get all kinds of errors from MailWasher (Not Responding) in the title bar to pop up windows saying that there was an error but it wasn't my fault...to other popup windows (lots of them) stating errors. it varies. |

Thats nice of the error to let you know it wasn't your fault!
It would be more helpful if it told you whose fault it was! |

I use AntiCrash from Dachshund Software. It detects program problems, tries to head off a system crash, and creates a log ... naming the responsible party.
It is rare to see MW in the crash detection log and I can't remember a time when MW actually brought the system down. Can't say that for some of the other programs I run. I'm using Win98se and Pegasus Mail is the e-mail client.

No crashes on either box:
1. Win NT SP5 28.8K dial-up.
2. Win 2000 SP3 on LAN through Cisco router & FW. |

I'm a long time user, even a beta user. Same system, 98SE. Same mail client, Calypso.
Since upgrading to Pro, which was seamless, I've experienced MWPro crashing. Lately it's started simply hanging on certain messages, requiring me to manually access my mail and find the offending message and delete it. Then everything runs normally. If I could find what the key is in those specific messages, I'd be able to tell more. So far, they all involve non-viral attachments. Two came from the same (very non-computer literate) person, but that's the only 'pattern' I've seen so far. Not much of one.
I don't get error messages anymore, turned those off. They were more problem than the hanging, what with repeating boxes, telling me I didn't do anything wrong, etc. etc.
NEVER saw this type of problem before upgrading. Still have an old beta hanging around, and may well switch back for a while.
I love the program, but am disappointed in this 'upgrade'. |

My answer - daily (or more - depending on how I use it). And by 'crash' I mean the 'blue screen of death' on a Win2K Pro machine. This is a serious problem and major disappointment - hope they get the program more stable because it is otherwise well thought out.
The crashes can come at any time but they seem most often related to the 'bouncing' feature. I have turned off bouncing for all accounts and don't run the program in the background and I can sometimes get thru a day - but I had not anticipated having the program dictate these limited usage options.
Win2K
PocoMail
(don't have trouble with any other programs - and I run a lot) |
