|
|
The other night my computer was overtaken by "nnsearch.biz". I searched via google, found this web site and followed the information provided by the posts of those very knowledgeable on how to fix these unsavory problems.
I've downloaded, installed and ran HiJackThis; I've downloaded, installed and ran CWShredder as well. According to CWShredder, my machine is clean. I've done a search of my drive for "nnsearch", "kdx", and "khost". All are gone. However, when I start a browser window, I am still unable to utilize the "tab" button to go through a web page, nor am I able to close a web page by clicking on the "X" in the upper right hand corner.
What else happened to my machine, how can I clean it up, and how can I prevent it from happening again?
I have a fully-paid (now I do) version of Norton Anti-Virus and Norton's Internet Security package.
I don't have the latest updates for Miscrosoft XP as of yet, even though I had that set to do automatically on my machine. I've been waiting for the list of updates to show on Microsoft's web page now for 15 minutes with nothing, but it's working.
I'm pretty computer savvy, just not as knowledgeable about all of these damn viruses as I should be, which humble me to no end.
Can someone please help me? I'll run any program, give you anything you need to get my system back to running how it was before all of this happened.
Let me know what I need to do and I'll do it --- I'll be patiently waiting for the confidenant, knowledgeable and honest replies. |

Welcome, weebleswobbleif you have not registered, please do it now. weebleswobble We need a snapshot of your running processes..........but First:
Virus=Read This: http://www.computercops.biz/postt8864.html
HiJack= Read This: http://www.computercops.biz/postt911.html
Download : HiJack This!
Create and Unzip to a folder not your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
Unzip the download (using a piece of software like: Winzip)
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log in a text file, and post it in the CCSP "Spyware - Hijack Related" forum:
http://computercops.biz/forum67.html
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

nnsearch trouble can easily be removed by removing a file called reg33.exe from c:\windows directory (do this in safe mode start up or by means of ''end task'' in task manager. remove files containing nnsearch from registry as well. reset favorite homepage once and you're out.
(by the way: don't poke around in porno sites ay more) |
