i'm using the folding@home client (folding.stanford.edu) and there is a problem with proximitron. how can i add *.stanford.edu to the bypass list? the syntax seems a little confusing |

I use folding@home too... disable its proxy use, it doesn't need to go through Proxo.

i'm behind a proxy, i'm not directly hooked up to the internet. i use analogx proxy and for some reason everything that goes through that goes through proximitron (even aim), even though i specify port 6588 (analogx http proxy) and not port 8080 (proximitron) and disabled my private ip from access to it.
my mom's computer is hooked up to a dsl line and has two network cards, one for our home lan (which currently is 3 computers, but i'm hooking up 2 others a little later), one for dsl. everything on the two other computers gets routed through my mom's computer. any ideas on how to stop her computer from filtering things from port 6588 or on how to have it stop just filtering folding work units? right now i just click bypass everytime i'm going to finish a work unit... |

I'm curious, do you have in MS your connections setup to go through a LAN connection or thru a dialup?

Who is your provider?
I presume this is at home?
What kind of firewall do you use?
Is Folding allowed to access the Net via your firewall rules?
How did you deactivate the folding proxy?

it seems like it's a problem with proximitron only, but i'll answer the questions anyway
my provider is sbc global communications (or something like that). it's connected to my mom's computer. it's running windows 2000 and connecting using enternet.
I use Tiny Personal Firewall, but it allows everything when i'm on a lan. my mom was using norton internet security, but it was acting a little weirdly when i put another NIC in her computer so temporarily she's running without a firewall
folding is allowed via my firewall rules
i edited the config file to set active to no |

Ok, thanks for all the answers.. I wanted to rule some things out I had in the back of my mind, and your answers did that.
One more attempt? How about movign your config file into another directory... and startup the config for FAH all over again. This time, make sure proxy is not enabled.

well, when i set active to no, it tried to access it directly (my firewall came up saying it was trying to access stanford's servers rather then the proxy) so does that answer your question? if not, i'll keep an eye on it and when it gets close to finishing i'll just run it with the -config switch and set it to not use a proxy at all |

Yes yes!! Now you have to allow the folding app to access the Net via your firewall rules. Just allow it to access the Standford servers, and you're all set.
