|

I am new to Proximitron. I have DL'd the program & JDList 10 24 03.exe, and have placed the JDList files in the same folder as Proximitron.
Using Opera 7.2 as my browser, I changed the proxy settings: <localhost>
port = 8080
The program icon is in the tray...when I click on it, the main Proximitron default window apears, and says at the bottom "Active connections 00"
Is this correct??
Also when I have the "log window" open & change to another web page, the log window does not do anything.
Will this program also work with Compuserve??
thanks |

Hi bozo,
You should see alot of activity in the log window when loading a webpage. You may have to use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost, it's been a while since I've used Opera and I don't remember what I used to set it to.
As far as Compuserve goes, I didn't know they had a browser, but proxo should work with any browser that allows you to use a proxy.

Hello bozo,
" <localhost> " won't work. "localhost" (no quotes, no brackets,) will work. Make sure the Opera Preferences "HTTP" box is checked. Also make sure you click "Apply" . |

Thanks for the tips...I got the proggie to work in Opera & IE. I had not checked the box on the left side of "localhost". When I did that the log file worked.
Another ??, however, now that I am using a proxy server...I noticed that with Proxomitron OFF, I get an error " Could not conect to proxy server. Access denied"...when I am surfing to any site. Is this correct. There maybe times when I would like to go to a site with Proxomitron turned off i.e. to view gif's
Is there a way to configure my computer so I can surf with or without Porxomitron.
thanks |

HI bozo,
The message your getting is normal when you have configured the browser to use proxomitron as a proxy but proxo isn't running.
The easy way to veiw sites unfiltered is to put proxo in the bypass mode. If you right click on the proxo icon in the sys tray, you'll see "Bypass". Just scroll up to it and check it. To turn filtering back on, uncheck it.
Also, you can edit the "Bypass" block file list. Right clicking on the proxo icon in the sys tray scroll up to "Edit Blockfile" then scroll up to "Bypass:" and click it. This opens up the file in notepad. There are instructions and examples in the file for entering websites you always want to bypass.
