|
|
Hi!
Sorry to brother you, but I have just seen something on your forum that catch my attention...
THIS TOPIC
Why it caught my attention? Because in all my experience with NIS I have been having the same problem.
About a year ago I installed NIS 2003 - funny.... I never had a firewall before. Soon after I had one, it started to block "attack". At this time the message it gived was something such "Try to connect to the local machine with TroyanHorse XYZ Blocked" (Don't know the real english version of the message, I have the Italian version ... so please forgive any misstiping). After some mail and a 3 weeks.... I finally succeded in having Symantech explain that the advise should have read "Try to connect to the local machine on a port usually used by TroyanHorse XYZ Blocked"... 3 weeks passed hunting for a troyan that doesn't exixt on the machine. But it was my fault in begin newbie to firewall and their allert.
But now... I'm starting to ask myself if Symantech doesn't have something to do with the allert I am getting.
Why? Because while before I have an allert "sometime", maybe 3 on a day but 0 for a week after, now I can get a total of... 30 advice in an hour?
The strange thing is that IT STARTED AT ABOUT THE SIME TIME of the person in the linked post. Could it be a coincidence (... and then some of my friend who experienced the same problem at the same time should be coincidence too) or I should really start to belive that Symant. and some of the update to NIS was somehow... responsable?
And how it comes that the allert seem to grow in quantity in the evening (i could belive that in the morning there are fewer people connected, and so fewer hacker, But I Can't belive this since some ip seem [beliving to VisualTracker] to be associated to computer all over the world..... Don't think it's everywhere the 7.00 am....)? |

Well well....
Sorry but I had my good motive to not subscribe to other forum at the moment. And as a mater of fact, it wasn't even a request of help, but only a report of what I think was strange. The same problem at the sime time with the same firewall... But it'doesn't mater.
I noticed a little note of sarcasm in the above reply. Well then. Farewell. |
