|
|
Recently i've had a lot of problems with my computer, including bridge.exe and a load of other adware. Whenever my system loads now it trys to load things likebvfix.exe and epwumathat.exe. Im wondering if these things could enable anyone to capture my passwords to msn as someone has been trying to get in, if people are trying to get in can i stop it? Can someone help, running out of ideas fast lol. |

keep using adaware 6 to get rid of anything on your computer, and eventually it should all go. if it doesnt try pasting a hijackthis log in the hijackthis log forum and they may fix it up for you.
on msn messenger, i havent heard of them getting your password as it appears as asterisks when you type it in, so they may only find out the length of it. and if someone had been able to see what you typed in, surely they would have stolen your hotmail account and not just attempted to? |

Get a firewall. Zone Alarm is free. Also, that messenger is VERY in secure. Get and install "Shoot the messenger". Available here http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_d...016,00.asp at PC World.

MSN Messenger and "Messenger Service" are completly different things. "Shoot the messenger" targets the later.
TO answer you question, MSN Messenger is not safe. I have tools that can sit on a network and grab every MSN conversation they see.
It's a question of risk mitigation. Is you home phone encrypted? No, probably not. So would you give confidential and sensitive information out over the phone? Well, most people do it all the time but there is no guarantee that your line is secure. Same thing with MSN.
The golden rule in any communications scenario is "always assume your conversation is being monitored". |

You can use LAN messenger software if you have a group of computers.
These programs don't have an Internet connection. No one can access to your computers from outside. Something like Softros LAN messenger etc. |
