Hi everybody, OK according to Trend Micro Housecall I have an infection of agobot.gen. However when I ran AVG with the latest updates it did not pick it up. So I was wondering whether AVG can or whether it's just me?

which version of grisofts AVG did you use?
was it the version V.6.0 or was it the V.7.0?

v6.0 is a freeware and V7.0 is fully licensed.

also did you get it put in the virus vault?

you can protect yourself some more by getting the free version of zone alarm and configuring to scan incoming.
i'll check the grisoft data base about this one and post again, anything that avg puts in the virus vault can be safely deleted from the vault,i do it all the time
TROJAN HUNTER offers a free version for a thirty day trial period, that should be long enough to help get some more junk off the pc,wadda you think?

i just found your "agobot" in the trojan definitions on my copy of trojan hunter.
maybe you should get the free version from them.

Well if it is indeed a trojan then AVG might not be able to pick it up. There is a difference between anti-virus software and anti-trojan software. As their names suggest, they are dedicated to either virus prevention or trojan prevention. If agobot is indeed a trojan, maybe you should download a free antitrojan software as TMOV suggested. Another good (and free Wink ) program is the ewido security suite. The link is below:
http://www.ewido.net/en/? Hope this helps!
