Hello. This is my first visit and post here.

I currently using AVG Pro 7. When I ran the Eicar test, AVG caught the eicar.com. When I did the eicar zip and zip2, it doesn't catch it until I tried to open the zips. I also have Trend Micro and one year free Panda Platinum 7 (they are not on computer now) and they catch the zip and zip2 before they are opened. Do I need to worry about the way AVG Pro 7 handles zip files?

Also, does AVG Pro 7 do a good job of e-mail scanning?

AVG V.7.0 IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER USED.
AND IF YOU OPEN A FILE AND IT IS CONTAMINATED AVG WILL JUMP ON IT RIGHT AWAY.
BUT DONT BECOME COMPLACENT, I ALSO USE SEVERAL OTHER WAYS TO CATCH THESE DEVILS.
I HAVE THE FIRETRUST BENIGN AND OTHER THINGS ON WATCH.
I WANT TO WELCOME YOU TO A GREAT COMMUNITY OF VOLUNTEERS THAT ARE DEDICATED TO STOPPING THE SPREAD OF MALWARE AND IGNORANCE ON THE INTERNET.

since you are a fresh arrival on this site i wish to point you to some very good things here.
the staff and others have been doing things for the community.
there is a very good down load section for freeeeeeeee downloads.
most commonly used items are:
hijackthis,
cwshredder,
adaware,
spybot search and destroy,
spywareblaster,
spywareguard,
rbkiller,
mrublaster,
and a little utility called crao cleaner.

i also recommend the little toy called homeland security, a fun thing.

there is one that i think could stand alone but i use it to advise me of traffic to and from my system and the internet,
it's called ZONE ALARM, THE FREE VERSION.

GIVE THEM A TRY.
IF YOU DOWN LOAD ANY THING UNLESS IT WONT GO ANYWHERE ELSE ON YOUR SYSTEM KEEP THEM IN THE "C" DRIVE PROGRAM FILES, PARTICULARLY THE HIJACK THIS, IT DOESN'T WORK FROM THE TEMP. FILES AT ALL.

Sorry TMOV for not replying sooner. I checked here for any replies after my last post, didn't see any and then just didn't look again. I didn't realize there was another post.

I have a lot of the software you list, adaware, spybot s&d, spywareblaster, spywareguard, and zone alarm pro, along with my antivirus. I will check out the others that you mentioned.

I would like to ask you another question if I may. How would you compare Panda Platinum 7 to AVG Pro 7? I see where Panda is offering a free one year subscription promo for Platinum.

probably because they are not the numberone choice in the world.
see the following recent poll question and answer.
i can't give you a better answer than this;
and my personal choice??
avgv.7.0,,,,,that's what i use.

http://www.computercops.net/modules.php...=0&thold=0

i meant to correct my typo but didn't get around to it, the one item that i mentioned was called crap cleaner.
i like it a lot.

Wow, AVG is second only to NAV. Very interesting. I think I'll keep AVG Pro 7 running on my computer a while longer. Smile

that trojan hunter is good, they only give you thirty days free trial.
i bought mine after that ran out.
paul had just gotten the arraingement done to sell trojan hunter through the site here and i may have been the first customer.
i wouldn't know how to tell for sure though.
but i can't imagine going to sleep without the trojanhunter installed.
and the zone alarm too.
you just have to make your perimeter as secure as you're able to.
and keep it all updated.

for every new defense that comes out there's another bad boy out there too.

there is a new free version at grisoft.com; it's the trial version really, of the version 7.0 of AVG.
saw it today on their website.
