I don't know much about anything when it comes to computers. today i was using AIM (aol instant messager) and in a buddy's away message it said something along the lines of "click here to see my new screensaver" thinking nothing of it, i clicked and then my away message popped up, with out me doing anything saying the exact same thing my friend's away message said. Knowing something was wrong I tried to run my norton antivirus. with in seconds, it shut off. i tried that several times. i located where the screensaver.exe went and deleted it, but the antivirus still isn't working. is there something else i should do? thanks for your help!

Hi there,

Go to and download : HijackThis located at http://computercops.biz/zx/phoenix22/hijackthis.zip

Create and Unzip to a folder not your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show us its contents.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.

Next, go to the Spyware - HijackThis Forum http://computercops.biz/forum67.html and press "New Topic".
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Be specific in explaining your issue.
Then copy and paste the contents of your Hijack This log into your new
topic thread.

Good Luck! Smile
