|

This evening I received an updated ZAPro - version 4.***, and suddenly B9 is unable to load.
First it eats all the ram and pagefile then tells me it's out of memory.
Uninstalled ZA - still does the same.
Reinstalled previous ZAPro version 3.*** - no change.
Uninstalled B9 and reinstalled, without ZA on the machine - still can't startup.
Everything was working fine before the update.
Anyone else have this problem, or knows the cause?
I suspect it's a conflict with the 2 email scanning applications - but ZA had this before and B9 was working fine.
Bugger is, I've only had B9 for a week or so, and don't like the idea of wasting money like this.
I'd love to hear if anyone can help.
Cheers

Hi Zhen-Xjell
I'm a relative novice, so am not sure specifically what you are asking me to produce.
All I know is B9, on launch or on uninstall, eats up all the ram, then pagefile.
It then gives an 'out of memory' message, which I 'OK'.
I notice the ram and pagefile remain hogged (using Norton System Doctor to monitor use).
B9 then loads, but keeps hogging all the ram and virtual memory.
It does actually load and work though.
When I close it, all returns to normal - ram and pf restored.
This happens whether or not I'm running other programmes.
I'm on XPHome.
As far as I can tell, the only thing which has changed on the system between it working and not, is the ZonealarmPro upgrade 3 to 4.
Cheers

Hi yes, I'm asking for the process list of all the processes running on your system. Diamond IP offers a program to display that information. We can then gauge if B9 is the actual culprit or not. |

Hi
Can't locate the programme at Diamond IP, but I can give a list from the task manager:
Rcentral.exe
BOClean.exe
dasystray.exe
BOCSEC.exe
SYSDOC32.exe
svchost.exe SYSTEM
NOPBD.exe SYSTEM
avgcc32.exe
explorer.exe
zapro.exe
rollfax.exe
spoolsv.exe SYSTEM
MailWasher.exe
svchost.exe LOCAL SERVICE
svchost.exe NETWORK SERVICE
svchost.exe SYSTEM
svchost.exe SYSTEM
Integrator.exe
mapisp32.exe
lsass.exe SYSTEM
services.exe SYSTEM
winlogon.exe SYSTEM
csrss.exe SYSTEM
vsmon.exe SYSTEM
smss.exe SYSTEM
System SYSTEM
System Idle Process SYSTEM
That's a typical list, but I also closed everything except the system/network stuff and explorer, reinstalled and executed with no programme's processes running in the background, and it still eats up all resources when started.
I also re-downloaded the programme from Firetrust - uninstalled, deleted the logs in the applications folder, reinstalled, and no change.
Boggling my brain at the mo to think what could conflict, as the ZAP upgrade's mailsafe looks the same as before (to the novice that is).
Unless it has nothing to do with ZAP and it's an amazing synchronicity that it happened at the same time.
Thanks for your interest.
Ivan

That list is perfect, an you also add the memory statistics, etc to each? |

Well same problem here.
B9 gives conflict with zonealarm 4.0 pro.
The conflict is that there is no engouh virtual memory.
If i remove B9 there is no problem.
The problem happend when zonealarm 4.0 is out.
So my question is: is the problem caused by b9 or zonealarm 4.0.
No other programs gives troubles with zonealarm 4.0 |

Sounds interesting. I don't have Ivan's problem but have had similar problems in the past with other software. This could be a very useful tool.

As i already said i have the same problem Ivan has with zonealarm 4.0 en b9.
I have formatted my pc and installed windows xp again.
Than i installed zonealarm 4.0 after that i installed all the updates for XP.
And when i install after that b9 it goes totally wrong.
When i installed b9 i get the message that there is not engough virtual memory.
This problem i did not have with the zonealarm 3 and b9. |

That's cause I uninstalled it :0)
However, I reinstalled it and everything's changed, so I'll have to take another inventory.
Sorry, hadn't realised you wanted to see it when running.
The only reason it can run is because I have a ram booster. Without this on, the thing won't even load.
I'll get back to you.

Hi Z
Here's a new list, with a few progs not started, so that it ensured it ran at least:
B9.exe 1,128
Lserver.exe 44
taskmgr.exe 1,580
WINWORD.EXE 7,708
svchost.exe SYSTEM 228
explorer.exe ,.584
zapro.exe 2,692
spoolsv.exe SYSTEM 528
svchost.exe LOCAL SERVICE 32
svchost.exe NETWORK SERVICE 528
svchost.exe SYSTEM 3,436
svchost.exe SYSTEM 972
Integrator.exe 1,156
lsass.exe SYSTEM 1,2148
services.exe SYSTEM 784
winlogon.exe SYSTEM 652
csrss.exe SYSTEM 1,216
vsmon.exe SYSTEM 3,228
smss.exe SYSTEM 44
System SYSTEM 44
System Idle Process SYSTEM 20
B9 went up into nearly 20,000 as it was loading, then came back down.
Hope it makes sense to you :0)
(Still waiting on Firetrust and Zonealarm Tech Support to get back to me about this - nothing as yet. But I'll keep folks informed)
Cheers

Can you run all the processes you normally would? Please also include the column title and show us the gdi object data too. Its an extra column you need to select in your view. |

Even if the same fault appears no matter what programmes I have running? All usual or none but b9? With or without ZA even installed (I know it likes to leave lots behind, so I'm guestimating some new element has overwritten something from previous version - so even when running the previous version or no ZA, B9 is still hogging everything).
Could you let me know what all these processes might indicate?
Also do you want B9 running too? Coz it's a real headache and time-consuming to do, if all you're going to say at the end is 'oh yeah, you have a problem with B9 hogging all your resources at startup. Probably got a conflict with Zonealarm's new upgrade' :0)
Do you want one with and one without B9 running?
Many thanks
