|
|
I'm hoping somebody can help me out. I'm trying to figure out the purpose of mmdrv.exe and why it is consistently eats about 20% of my available CPU.
Location of file is C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\mmdrv.exe
I've exhausted google and microsoft support and still can't find anything substantive on this executable or its resource needs.
Based on references to mmdrv.dll on the net I assume that mmdrv.exe is a multimedia subsystem that is used for audio output by the computer.
I have noticed that the CPU usage does seem to coincide with a running IEXPLORE.exe process. When Internet Explorer isn't running mmdrv.exe fluctuates between 0-10% of the running processes.
Can anyone shed some light on this? |
