Getting about 700 e-mails a day (80% spam), I spend a significant amount of time waiting for Mailwasher to load each message individually from the server, one at a time, watching the counter go up. I have to go on and do other things and come back later once its loaded. Surely, there must be some artificial force in place slowing this down, since the speed of loading one-by-one is very constant and does not seem dependent on the type or content or size of message. I do not use First Alert or Spam Cop, so those things are not slowing me down.

Surely something must be able to be done so that the messages will load in not much more than the time it takes my mail client to download them.

Then there are the deletions. Deleting 600 e-mail, and watching them go one at a time, seems absolutely unneccessary. I am not bouncing anything; I'm just deleting them.

I should be able to press the "Start Deleting and Bouncing" button and whooosh - they should be gone and the screen should be redrawn once.

While I'm at it, it takes about 60 seconds for Statistics to process 4 weeks of my logs. It says I have 40,000 messages in my logs, but computers are much faster than that. If all its doing is processing log files, there is no reason why 1,000,000 couldn't be processed in a few seconds. Look at how fast web log analyzers work.

Then of all things, it takes 10 seconds for the statistics box to Close! What's with that?!

I've been happily using Mailwasher for the last few years, and love the filtering and the improvements made to it and it has been wonderful in saving me time sorting spam from the right stuff.

But now as the amount of spam continues to increase, I am finding that my waiting for Mailwasher itself, to load, to delete, and to process statistics is becoming a very frustrating timewaster.

Can these be sped up, please??

Yes performance needs a revisit. Perhaps the new development environment will facilitate much of this. My own favourite pet peeve in this regard is that fact that MWP becomes totally non-responsive when it's busy crunching SPAM -- even the 'Stop' button. Rolling Eyes

You ought to see the problems you have with this when your "good" ping times are over 1000 ms and on a bad day can touch 2500 ms.

Checking and deleting are not op to the speed I'd like to see but I thought much of the problem was on my slow connection.

Probably most of it is Stan but to have MWP totally freeze and have no way to intervene other than to "End Process" via Task Manager .... well .... there's just no excuse for that!
