spam: States Pass Their Own Anti-Spam Laws |

Maryland and Florida have enacted anti-spam legislation as states--disheartened by the ineffectiveness of the federal CAN-SPAM Act--are increasingly moving to take anti-spam measures into their own hands.
Maryland's Spam Deterrence Act permits fines up to $25,000 and 10 years in jail for persons sending fraudulent advertising messages in the state. "The new law will provide additional tools for state law enforcement.
