Are you sure it is Outlook that denied you access and not your antivirus program?

Yes, this can be disabled, but it requires making an entry in the registry. If you're comfortable with that, I'll look up the exact instructions. But if you're in a hurry, just ask the sender to ZIP the file before attaching it and sending it to you! |

I don't think the sender would actually need to compress the file using a ZIP utility. Just changing the file name extension from .exe to some other agreed extension would work. It could be anything not considered execuitable ... like .txt, .aaa, .bbb, etc.
Outlook only looks at the extention and not the actual file content. After receipt of the file with a different extension, just rename the file using the .exe extention and run the program. Should work.
Side note ... not really a Benign fourm question.

Since it involves the default extentions in B9, why not?

Guest Perry,
Your comment about B9 extensions is the first mention of the Benign program in this thread. The introduced topic is "outlook security" and the initial request for assistance involved the way Outlook security enhancements handle attachments.
Since the use of Benign was not mentioned by the Guest kinetex, who started this thread, a more appropriate forum would seem to be one specifically involving Outlook and its security updates. One specific update significantly changed attachment handling defaults.
Naturally, we all try to help were we can ... so that's what I did. Had the initial question specifically mentioned using Benign, my response would have been different and the problem might need to be solved a different way. As it stands, the only specific mention was outlook security.
Side note ... it's easier to sort through messages and reply effectively if repeat guests sign up and log in. Helps the continuity.

Maybe so, if you are doing so from your computer.
Unless you carry your code with you, try getting it sent via email to a machine not your own, such as the one I am using right now.
I do in fact have an account here for my machine at home.

My initial response to this user is if he was sure that it was Outlook that was denying him access to his exe. Since he appears to be a user of B9 that may not be the case. It also may not be the case if his antivirus program was the cause of being denied access. The fact is we don't know based on his post, but the assumption would be since this is a Benign forum is that he is a user of at least the Outlook Benign combination, and possibly more.
The introduced topic is not Outlook Security, it is Benign/Troubleshooting/Outlook Security.

I have the exact same problem as kinetix. This happens with MS Outlook. I have searched and searched but I cannot find a way around it. Hamish sent me Benign file for installing same. I had to write and ask him to change it. Done that and I changed it to .exe and all is well. It happened also when installing BOClean 411. Kevin changed it (his idea) and all was well again.
In Outlook Express it is easy to see and alter but not so MS Outlook.
