Hi,

How do I change the "clock" on b9 to set it to show Daylight Savings Time on this option: "update the received date and time on each message."

Thanks to each of you at Firetrust, Inc. for support and for Benign and MailWasher Pro, and for continuing to develop your products (Go, Nick! Very Happy ).

Sincerely, Karen

I think it'll use whatever date and time your computer is showing. You might need to restart Benign after changing to or from DST to get it to use the new timezone, though.

Im getting incorrect sent times on eMails. Definately occuring with those received from AOL account senders. Almost as if I am having the American timestamp being applied to the received eMail. Im in UK running GMT with auto DST.

This may not be a B9 problem, but I want to rule it out.

Eg. An eMail sent by a UK AOL user at 01:00 GMT, gets a sent time of 20:00 the previous day. ie -5 hours. When received by an AOL user, the account correctly says sent at 01:00.

Im using Outlook 2000 on Win2000. eMail from AOL to DNS2GO mail forwarding to Tiscali ISP to B9 to Winroute Pro 4.? mail server to Outlook 2000.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ian

Ian,

Arrow I think you might be on to something. I just did the following test ...

Arrow I sent a message from my computer to myself with the computer time showing 21:35. The mail copy in my copy self file shows 21:35 and the sent time indicated when the message is checked by MWP shows 21:35.

Arrow When I download the message to my mail client and open it, the sent time is shown as 20:35 rather than 21:35. Incoming mail is only checked by AVG Antivirus and by Benign. Seems like only Benign could change the time. I'm using Pegasus Mail.

Comments please.

Hi Guys

We are aware of a problem that affects some the correct insertion of daylight savings adjusted times on some systems. The problem turns out to be with a third party component used by Benign. We are planning to re-write our own methods to handle the daylight savings time zones properly. Unfortunately this isn't an easy fix, so it will take some time to create and test before it can be released.
I will keep you informed of the progress on this and let you know when we have a fixed version. I apologise for any inconvenience the altered time may cause in the meantime. We will have this fixed as soon as possible!

Regards
Hamish

Arrow Thanks for the update, Hamish. I recall reading an article (don't remember the source right now) about the complexity of programming time zones, daylight savings time, etc. Good luck with the fix.
