Hi
I noticed that your site is powered by phpBB 2.0.8a and that you are using ported 2.0.6.
I am running PHP-Nuke 7.0 and have applied the NukeCops 2.3 Security bundle and the 2.0.8a update.
My question is, at this time, my site shows an extremely bizarre configuration at the bottom of my screen. Truth be told, I think my ported phpBB is out of date, even though I'm running the latest NukeCops bundles. In the last update, I noticed that I was overwriting later files with older ones (regarding the included Forum Updates)
My questions:
Where can I get the latest phpBB ported mod?
What files do I need to edit to get my site to report that I am running 2.0.8a (since it only shows 2.0.8).
What files do I need to modify to change from:
Quote: |
Powered by phpBB 2.0.8 © 2001 phpBB Group
phpBB port v2.1 based on Tom Nitzschner's phpbb2.0.6 upgraded to phpBB 2.0.4 standalone was developed and tested by:
ArtificialIntel, ChatServ, mikem, sixonetonoffun and Paul Laudanski (aka Zhen-Xjell).
Version 2.1 by Nuke Cops © 2003 http://www.nukecops.com
MDesignPc theme pack by Mtechnik.MDesign © 2003 |
to something that would resemble what you are running here?
Finally, I really want to do some work on my profile setup to require a considerable amount of additional information and to standardize the phpBB and PHP-Nuke variables. You can't help but notice that each application has some things missing that are in the other (Speaking strictly about phpBB's: http://www.yoursite.com/modules.php?nam...ditprofile versus Nuke's http://www.yoursite.com/modules.php?name=Your_Account) Given that it is all the same package, you'd think someone would have addressed this by now... but hey, I understand that evolution is slow regarding this kind of thing.....
Basically, I'd love to get down to simply using the phpBB profile manager, but it is going to need some serious work first.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this short of spending a month rewriting SQL code and the Your_Account/index.php file?
I'm hoping I don't have to re-invent somebody else's wheel here. I'm actually really surprised this hasn't been done already given the things missing from phpBB that are (and have been) in Nuke, but I guess this is a two way street since it isn't like phpBB's fields have changed much either.
Beyond fixing the existing, I am also looking to require fields of additional information like:
Full Name (Required)
Street Address 1 (Optional, But Required for Govt Users)
Street Address 2 (Optional, But Required for Govt Users)
City (Required)
State (Required)
Zip (Optional, But Required for Govt Users)
Country (Required)
Office Telephone: (Required for Govt Users)
Government Email Address: (Required for Govt Users)
I would want to modify the Your_Account/index.php file to show users that this information is private, but required none the less.
IDEAS? Starting Points? Words of advise?
All's good!
I'd especially like to start by being current in my port, updates and displayed information (If I'm running 2.0.8a, I'd like my site to say 2.0.8a!) and the same thing goes for my ported version and patch update versions.
Thanks!

Steph, are you not familar with http://phpnuke.org/ then? Same folks that run this board run a board over there via http://phpnuke.org/modules.php?name=Forums that will get you lots of folks that could answer your questions straight away I'm sure.

Yeah.. Thanks Ike...
I just noticed that he's started forums back up again... Since I've been using Nuke (only about a month) he didn't have one.. in fact the old policy at phpnuke.org was that they provided Zero support there. I guess attitudes have changed a touch.
I have posted my question over there, but in the meantime, I'd still love to hear about how this site got that little 2.0.8a at the bottom of the screen! I'd love to hear about the 2.0.6 version as well if anyone has info!
Thanks!

I'm a forum administrator at phpnuke.org forums. The Nuke Cops CVS bundle has been upgraded this week to match phpbb 2.0.8a. The forums here at CCSP are done only by me and none of it is planned to be released. I am continuing work at the NC bundle which will be sent to phpnuke.org.

Thanks for the info Paul. That's great! (Your site looks very nice by the way...) I'm looking forward to the next NC release.

64bitguy, the copyright files have yet to be updated in Nuke's distro but in the meantime you can grab the forum's copyright.php from the cvs and you might grab from any of the themes in the cvs the files:
overall_footer.tpl
simple_footer.tpl
If you are using any of the bundle's themes you can just replace these files on your server, else you can use them as a guide to edit the ones on your theme.
Much like Paul said the version being used here and at NC is based on the official release but has been modified for each site, the last 3 or 4 versions of BBtoNuke have been released as update packs and not as full versions mainly because as you may or not be aware the people involved in the porting have their own projects and are often tied in terms of available time, i for one have been in charge of releasing versions 2.0.5 through 2.0.8a, the same time limitations have forced me to release them as upgrade patches, i think everyone in the Nuke community knows my time is limited but modesty aside it is time well spent. Hope this info has been of any assistance to you or anyone else.
