Hi,

Have ZA pro latest version (all set to the max security)
on XP pro, fresh clean install.
All the M$ updates, all the bad services off (Messenger, etc.)

Went to Pc Flank and Shields Up to test the stealth.

Shows port 25 open, the rest stealth.
<
Name:
SMTP

Purpose:
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
<

Active Ports & Port Explorer says no program is using that port.

There are no trojans, virus, or spy-malware (have TDS-3, NOD32, Spybot, Pest Patrol etc).

Any info on ZA pro not stealthing the port and advise on how to close the port would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Thomas

Hello TJ22,

Check your anti-virus program. If it set up to automatically scan your Email, it is probably listening at that port. To close that port, try disabling the autorun feature and run your Email av scan manually. Smile

Also, are you behind a router or does your modem do NAT? If so, it is that hardware that is being tested and not your computer with ZAP.

Hi,

Tried it, didn't work.

Checked the ports with Active Ports and nothing is listening or established to port 25. It just shows up as "open" and "security threat" on
PC Flank & Shields Up. Tried uninstalling a reinstalling it - same.

Thanks for trying.

Hi,

Not on a router (yet), just on Dsl.

ZAP by itself has always worked well before the 4.5.5.38x versions.
Probably will have to pick up a router.

Thanks for trying.

Do you have anything else dealing with email processing on your computer?

Check out you DSL modem and see if it does NAT. Some of them do. Also do a scan at GRC and then check in zalog.txt and see if the scans were logged. If they are not and ports were stealthy or blocked, then you have something blocking ports before ZA does.
