|
I'm using EZfirewall, which I know is a clone of ZAP, and Win XP. When I set up the firewall and it went into learning mode, it asked if I wanted Benign to be a server; and I checked yes. Today I did a Shields Up port test, and port 110 was open. After much fiddling, I blocked that port and blocked B9 from being a server.
Now everything appears to work well, and ShieldsUp says I pass the port scan test. A test email to myself showed the B9 message at the bottom. So am I hurting anything?
I saw an earlier thread about port 110 and ZAP, but couldn't quite understand the solution.
Thanks,

tokdok,
I'm not familiar with EZfirewall but I do use Zone Alarm Pro with Benign. I do not have Benign set as a server equivalent in ZAP and the Gibson Shields Up check shows Port 110 as stealth.
As long as you get the Benign footer at the bottom of incoming mail ... it looks like you're good to go.

Hello, any of you guys any trouble d/loading? I have tried everything I know and it says security settings won't let me d/load. That happened once with other software and adding it to "Trusted" fixes it, but not with Benign. Even Hamish seems to have given up on it.

Hello claire, I have spent many hours trying all the different settings.
How I eventually got it was as an attachment from Hamish. But it had a "stop, go" personallity, so it was agreed to ditch it and d/load different but as written, no way would it download.
There are a couple of threads here telling of the problems. I have d/loaded lots of stuff and it was always straight forward.

Thanks for the reply.
Has this site been down? I've tried getting here several times....
A simple adjustment was all it took; it's working fine.
