This is pretty much it for the Constitiution if we don't act to stop it now, folks. I watched a clip of part of Bush's speech about it last night when I got home, and the plan now seems to be totally based on rocking people to sleep by telling them that judicial requirements are still in effect - when they're most definitely not.

The "judges" that are constantly referred to are F.I.S.A (secret court) "judges", ( The F.I.S.A court problem ) whose main purpose for existence is to rubber-stamp requests for "approvals" of any intelligence-agency-related requests. The whole process is done in secret, there is no "due process" involved, the "burden of evidence" before being granted the privilege of spying on anyone at anytime at will without their notification either before or after the fact is exactly zero - all any agency has to do is ask and make vague references to "national security" or "possible terrorist links" to get whatever they want.

Not a single detail was provided about any of the supposed "ability of federal agents to break up "terrorist supporters and operatives" in eight states." that was claimed - funny that none of that ever hit the news, don't you think?

Not a single mention was made of the ongoing "mission creep" involved, whereby all "patriot" provisions are being expanded to include regular criminal investigations.

Bush's request "to add others that he said would strengthen the law." means that patriot2 is alive, well and waiting in the wings to be shoved down our throats as soon as Bush gets re-elected. "patriot II" threat

Deliberate lies and stretchings of the truth to the point of snapping are what this administration is serving up to the American public.

The battle-lines have never been more clearly drawn - you either want a Constitutionally-guided government and will fight for it in every way you possibly can - or you're willing to see your children and grandchildren grow up in a police state.

Which is it? Pete
