On startup, I get a runtime error affecting ccEvtMgr.exe in my Symantec folder. Other symptoms include:

-NAV AutoProtect disabled, cannot be re-eneabled
-NAV E-mail Scanning off, cannot be turned on
-NAV LiveUpdate non-functional
-404 at www.symantec.com
-cannot run NAV system scan except in selective startup mode with everything but system services disabled

Ad-Aware found and remoed 29 processes. Virus scan found no infection.

Most peculiar of all, HiJackThis! won't remain open long enough for me to get a logfile.

I read the symantec article about RpaWinet.dll, but a search of all local hard drives shows no such file on my machine.

Please help ASAP.

I am having the same problem, with the additional twist that I cannot un or re-install Norton Internet Security or NAV, because it now tells me I don't have admin privileges.

What's going on?

check the following document:

Title: 'Error: "Runtime Error! . . .C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\<File name>. . .R6025 - Pure virtual function call" when running Norton AntiVirus'
Document ID: 2002092316375206
> Web URL: http://service1.symantec.com/support/na...Open&src=w

If that doesn't help:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/na...909040706?

If you still have problems then there is something wrong with your system. Might be worth to consider a format C: and before you go to the internet install a firewall and a Virusscanner
