I'm not sure what you mean by "security issue." If you installed it without the advanced features, it's relatively benign. I have not noticed any decrease in performance in IE since I installed it, and the built-in pop up stopper has been a great addition.

Hello dragontamer_0080,

Google Toolbar is "ETware" - it periodically phones home. Whether it is just searching for updates or intentionally relaying G*d knows what personal information, I don't know; placing "toolbar.google.com" in my Hosts file stops that communication. Smile

I like Google, but they have become a bit too omnipresent for me. Also, I don't like the fact that they recruited former NSA types. Why? I don't use their toolbar, and don't use their search engine. I made it through my M.S. in Network Security program not using Google for research and was not worse for the wear. I don't think anyone can definitively say what information they are phoning home with.

I often think about getting Google toolbar. Has anyone ever tried to uninstall it? How did it go? I would love to hear about it. TIA. Rolling Eyes

google toolbar does send info back but your annoymous and so's your IP. i've uninstalled it a few times for a few reasons (once a browser hijack) and it uninstalls fine - they do ask ya to give a reason though.
