My Dilemna with this dang thing continues... Here's the latest...

Windows Update Error

Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page.

Send error number to Microsoft (0x800C0005)

Anything to help me get my updates would be appreciated... Obviously I have internet connection... There seems to be something blocking me from accessing some pages that are important (such as this one)....

Thanks

sarbug, I had similar problem with Win Update. Gave me different error code about ActiveX controls, and all the solutions suggested by Windows site did not help. Turned out, it was my IE6’s fault, somehow it got corrupted. Tried fixing it by going to Uninstall/Install Programs and clicking on “Repair Internet Explorer”, but got error message that it couldn’t repair itself. So I next chose to “Return to previous window configuration”. That allowed Win Update to work. Made sure to update to IE6 afterwards (it was included on the recommended update list) and got the patches for IE6.

You might also try Googling the error code for other suggestions. What vers Win and IE do you have?

I have the same problem with windows updates and spybot. I get the same 0x800C0005 error. Also my live update won't work for my norton firewall and antivirus. I think im just going to re-install XP...
