Very Happy hello everyone

I just wondered if anyone can recommend some of the Adware and spyware free download sites??
I would especially like to know if anyone has found a SCREENSAVER site free from these PESTS
I share my comp with the kids and they always want to download another new desktop theme etc but everytime I download I get bombarded with spyware.
I have SPYWAREGUARD SPYWAREBLASTER TAUSCAN(a trojan hunter) and ZONEALARM but I still often end up with PESTS like
NEWDOTNET
NETPAL
QUICKSEARCH
FAVORITEMAN to name a few

luckily I also have ADAWARE and SPYBOT in my collection and these are brilliant to seek these out and destroy
BUT I do sometimes have to go into safe mode and registry to kick them out for good!!

THANKS to your amazing FORUMS I can now handle my comp quite well just by following advise on other posts

BUT BUT BUT is there anything else I can do to put a stop to the SPYS without having to give up any downloading from the NET??
As I said I would be grafeful for any advise on where to go for the BEST sites??
OR IS NOWHERE SAFE Crying or Very sad Mad

thankyou in advance
take care all Smile

Unfortunately there is no such thing as "SAFE" anymore. I used to go to a ton of websites years ago. I am down to about a dozen now that I can truly say are safe. As far as downloading themes, skins, etc., you are pretty much playing Russian roulette. To be honest all that pretty stuff just decreases the efficiency of your computer in the long run anyway.

One question I have for you. Do you have separate profiles set up for the kids? If so you can go into your IE settings and disable "downloads" if you are worried about them continually infecting the computer. Yes, they will be upset, but how much is your time worth to you? They download one file and you spend 1-3 hours fixing the mess the file caused.

To me Windows has enough holes in it already without me cutting a few more by taking the chance of downloading suspect files. When in doubt don't download Smile

I am sure someone will be along with a few recommended sites for the files you seek. Just remember "only you can prevent forest fires" Laughing

Smile hiya parputt

yes it is awful how we cannot enjoy the internet and use of our computers like we used to Crying or Very sad

the kids luckily never download without my knowledge as they are blocked by a content adviser..I have downloaded for them with TOOLS at the ready..I had just hoped it could be easier than it is!!!

BUT I guess we just have to keep away in future or suffer the consequences yet again Crying or Very sad ((A big SIGH!!))

thanks for the INFO though
take care
