Hi, everyone. I'm a newly-registered user here who has been plagued with CleverIEHooker and Clickspring, among other ad pests. I have Pest Patrol, Ad-Aware, and Norton AV running and updated, yet none have been able to clean these pests off my computer. I have spent over 20 hours in the past week trying to manually clean this up, yet this morning when I booted up, there were CleverIEHooker and Clickspring in the Pest Patrol scan.
ARGH. They are like relatives who come to visit and won't leave!
I know next to nothing about how to fix stuff on my computer, yet I have to use it for work and play (hey, a girl has to have her games, huh?). I can't seem to find HijackThis so I can use it to come here and get help. Can someone link me the URL to download it or otherwise point me in the right direction? I did a search in your Downloads area and couldn't find the program.
Also, once I do find the program and install it, I'd appreciate a suggestion as to where to post (which forum) to get help getting rid of these.
Thank you so much! You guys who know computers and can help those of us who don't, don't know how much your help means.
Thanks,
Jax |

Hi Jaxxie,
Welcome at Computercops
We need a snapshot of your running processes..........but First:
Virus=Read This: http://www.computercops.biz/postt8864.html
HiJack= Read This: http://www.computercops.biz/postt911.html
Download : HiJack This!
Create and Unzip to a folder not your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
Unzip the download (using a piece of software like: Winzip)
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log in a text file, and post it in the CCSP "Spyware - Hijack Related" forum:
http://computercops.biz/forum67.html
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Claire, thank you very much!
I've already been able to post to the forum you sent me to, so I have high hopes that help is on the way.
