Three days ago I decided to be adventurous and installed trial version of Zone Alarm Pro (before that I had free Zone Alarm for some time and everything worked fine). First couple days everything was so, so with lotsa alerts but mainly for Spooler Subsystem App which I instantly denied (like so many times before). But this morning following programs (in this order) started asking permissions to use McAfee Security Center Engine to accesss intenet: winlogon.exe, userinit logon application (and just those two have tried for more than 8000!!! times EACH!), then windows explorer got wacky and started doing the same thing, that was followed by Microsoft Management Console. Now I can't even go to yahoo with IE, I can't update my Mcafee (although it's not blocked), cant log on to msn ... I scanned my pc with Ad-aware, Stinger, looked million times in registry and nothing, and have no idea what is going on. Please help, I feel paralyzed (and confused)! (I managed to open this IE from ZA)

After I posted my message, problems got bigger and bigger, meaning that it became almost impossible for me to surf the net, including this site, naturally. Finally I gave up and uninstalled it. Now I am running free ZA and have no problems at all.
And to answer your question: I believe that program control was set on high. I tried to find answers (it looks like unsuccesfully) about why windows programs (services) were using McAfee to access internet. Now I only granted access to Generic Host Process for w32 services, Services and Controller app, msn and IE (and no server rights, as in ZA Pro) and everything is fine. In this ZA program control is allowed highest to be set on MEDIUM, so maybe that was the problem with ZA Pro (and I wasn't even considering it).
Thank you for trying to help me, and if you can tell me if my current settings are OK. THANKS!

Wink If its working then its OK. But as to the program control, you should have that on medium for 2 weeks or longer depending on how much surfing you do. If you don't do much then it should be longer. If you do decide to try it again and have problems, try over at the forums at ZoneLabs. There is almost always someone answer questions over there. And there is already alot of information posted there from others. Over here there is only a few of us answering questions here.
