recently, I am not able to suht down my computer (win98SE), because of some app. running in the background. I get the window "that the app is busy or has stopped running", but there is no name for the app(i get a junky file name, like ??????dA??????????). ALso, of possible relevance, I have have not been able to connect to the internet (MSN 9.0 Dialup), due to an internal error message window that looks nearly identical to the window that pops up when someone's infected by SASSER.D. I have doing a lot of research with SASSER, and I have noticed a few people that claim that SASSER can operate on WIN 98 and ME systems. ALso, I have detected activity on port 443, but isnt that a HTTPS port? I have MCCaffee 8.0 (2003), and the newest dat file. What's wrong with my computer(The shutdown issue, the similar symptoms to SASSER, and the activity on my port 443)

Thanks

Hi there,

Go to and download : HijackThis located at http://computercops.biz/zx/phoenix22/hijackthis.zip

Create and Unzip to a folder not your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show us its contents.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.

Next, go to the Spyware - HijackThis Forum http://computercops.biz/forum67.html and press "New Topic".
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Be specific in explaining your issue.
Then copy and paste the contents of your Hijack This log into your new
topic thread.

Good Luck! Smile
