IF YOU WANT NOTHING BUT HASSLES AND PROBLEMS INSTALL BENIGN. FROM THE MOMENT I INSTALLED THE LATEST EDITION, AND THE PREVIOUS EDITION I HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH ALL THREE E-MAIL PROGRAMMES.
ATTEMPTING TO SEND AN E-MAIL WITH BENIGN INSTALLED SET OFF THE "INTERNETALERT" FIREWALL, AND YOU COULD NOT SEND E-MAIL.
WITH BENIGN INSTALLED TRYING TO LOG ON TO MY PROVIDER BECAME IMPOSSIBLE, THE PROVIDER REJECTED ME WITH THE STATEMENTS THAT MY USER NAME WAS WRONG AND MY PASSWORD WAS INCORRECT.
HAVING USED THE SAME USERNAME AND THE SAME PASSWORD WITH THE SAME PROVIDER FOR OVER FOUR YEARS I WAS SUSPICIOUS AS TO THE CAUSE.
I UNISNTALLED BENING, NOT "MAILWASHER PRO" THOUGH AND INSTANTLY ALL MY PROBLEMS WITH LOGGIN ON AND SENDING OR RECEIVING E-MAILS DISAPPEARED.
I HAD COTACTED "FIREtRUST" AFTER HAVING READ ALL THERE F.A.Q'S AND RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE AT ALL.
SINCE REMOVING THE PROGTAMME I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS.
IF ASKED TO RATE THE PROGRAMME I WOULD GIVE IT A -ZZZZZZZZ.
I HAVE BEEN USING HOME COMPUTERS FOR OVER 20 YEARS NOW AND I USED TO WORK ON COMPUTERS AT THE AUSTRALIAN SECURITIES COMMISSION AND IT IS THE WORST PROGRAMME I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS.[/b] |

That is very strange, I installed mine and it went off straight away with no problems.
I am running on WINXP Home, Sygate Pro,AVG Pro,Mailwasher Pro, all ok.
I may be telling you to suck eggs , sorry, all i can think is that the original install was corrupted.

And in all that time you never figured out how to take off the Caps Lock?

He apparently never learned not to put his email address out in public, either.
Wonder if he's on that ISP that uses SpamAssasin? Is that in Austrailia? Pete |

I feel for a guy who has problems with the program. Personally I have never had any problem with it. I have no idea how fast the tech support is as I have never had the occasion to use them. I have used the forum and found vast help available here. I believe the latest upgrade was the result of a problem discussed on the forum.
I do wonder how long he waited for assistance from FireTrust and if he tried asking for help from this forum?
Maybe he will read this, take the caps lock off and try asking for a bit of help from the user community?
Since this is the suggestion forum, as a fellow user here is my suggestion try again, try the troubleshooting section and try to be nice about it. Good Luck. |

What's with the SpamAssassin reference? Are there others having problems when using B9 in conjunction with SpamAssassin configured by the ISP?

Ikeb - I picked that up from your own reference to it in this thread http://www.computercops.biz/posts2808-15.html .
I was assuming that you're not the only person in your ISP's ranks to have been affected by the SpamAssasin problem when using Benign.
My apologies for any confusion. Pete |

No problem Pete.
Actually I don't know of anyone else with the same ISP that's also using B9. Storm.ca isn't a big ISP and there's no forum in which to share common problems. I do wonder what other ISPs use SpamAssassin though. And I wonder if users with such ISPs also experience the problem I'm having. Maybe the SpamAssassin folks would tell me, wha'd'ya think?

What i wonder is whther the ISP version functions the same as the personal version.
I'm checking to see if they (SA) have a users' forum somewhere. Pete |

My ISP offers SpamAssassin combined with MIMEDefang as an opt-in service. I have been running the ISP option along with MWP and Benign for several weeks without any problem.
My only real observation is much, much less spam and no false positives ... so far. It looks like the combination of SpamAssassin at the ISP level plus MWP, CFS, and Benign at the personal computer level will be an excellent and effective combo.
