Sound Problem in IE6, but not wmp?!?

I have a problem with Internet Explorer version 6. There's no sound! I am using windows xp sp1 with all the updates. My sound card is working and all the connections are correct, because I can play and hear a song in windows media player. There are no device conflicts in the device manager, and everything seems to be fine as far as internet settings go. Under advanced internet options, i have "play sounds in web pages" checked. This has been going on for a few weeks and i cam completely out of ideas. Can someone please help me??
