I was surfing on a Home Depot site today when NIS 2004 came up and blocked what it considered an intrusion attempt. The message said "attempted Intrusion, URL_Directory_Transversal from your machine against "www.homedepot.com" detected and blocked". I think that Home Depot has enough business with selling home improvement than to moonlight with breaking into computers. What gives? What does directory transversal mean? |

Hi 2ndmanup
I get similar alerts - checked Symantec and all I could find was this:
URL_Directory_Transversal
At first site, it doesn't seem to apply to the problem, but the article mentions URL_Directory_Transversal about halfway down, which may provide some clues. I haven't read it properly yet, as it doesn't seem to be a real threat (the attacking IP address is 127.0.0.1, which is the internal IP address of my PC - same for everyone). It seems to be something to do with pages passing referrer information.
cheers
