|
|
I used to be able to shut down my computer and the computer would just shut off by itself. Now when I shut down it goes to that "it is now safe to shut down your computer" screen. Then it just sits there and waits for me to hold the power button for 5 seconds. Does anyone know how I can put this back the way it was. I'm really not sure what I did. Its not a pressing matter, but it would be nice to not have to mess with it anymore. thanks everyone

This is actually a fairly common problem with windows 98. A possible solution, one that works for several systems is a recommended update from microsoft here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/down...efault.asp
Another update that helps with shutdown problems caused by mapped drives is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/down...efault.asp
If you map drives to a network server or over a peer to peer network, then this one will probably solve the issue.
Hope this helps. |
