I am a new user. I am trying to change my password from the default one givin to me via email. All I get is the following.

The current password you supplied does not match that stored in the database

There's an explanation of that error half way down in this thread:

Basically, it makes a different which password change routine you use here. Try using the one you get to by using the "Account" link in the navigation bar above (between Downloads and Submit News) not the password change in the user profile screen.
