Hi there
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this one. Every time I reboot the computer the settings of Norton Internet Security (NIS) change to:
Security - OFF
Personal Firewall - OFF
Intrusion Detection - OFF
I have to turn on all of them manualy each time !

Another issue is with OPTIONS. I set the Start Norton Internet Security to 'At system startup', yet after the reboot it resets itself to 'Manual'. (that is probably the reason why the other three above come up with OFF).

Basic questions:
What version of NIS?
Is Parental Control installed and enabled?
Are you using NIS User Accounts?
What operating system?
If it's Win NT/2000/XP, what OS user account type are you using when you try to do this?

Hello Joseph
Here are answers to the questions:
NIS Version: 6.0.4.35
Parential Control instalelled and enabled: NO
Using NIS User Accounts: NO
OS: XP
XP User Account type: Computer Administrator

Re: NIS User Accounts; I wasn't aware of possibility of setting user accounts for NIS.

Strange that NIS->Options remembers when I turned on password protection for NIS tools, but changes 'Start NIS' option to 'Manual' from 'At system startup' consistently (after reboot).

Thanks
Shemeck

For some bizarre reason, you have to choose to install Parental Controls in order to get access to NIS User Accounts. (After that, you can disable Parental Accounts, and the User Accounts stuff still works -- go figure. ) Now, if you ever do this (and it would require a re-install), I would strongly recommend that you let the wizard synchronize your NIS User Accounts directly to your XP User Accounts.

But, back to your present situation, could it be that the XP User Account that you are now using when you try to change settings is different from the XP User Account that you used to install NIS? Seems to me that I've heard a few instances of this happening.

Looks like I do not have the Parental Controls installed. It is also possibe that NIS was installed under another account (NIS was one of the first apps I've installed on my laptop, perhaps even before I created personalized accounts, don't remember now). I will re-install NIS with Parental Controls under the right account and proceed as you suggested.
Thanks a lot for help!
