Hello, I am having a problem on XP with my internet connection. I sue dial up and when I first try to connect it fails connecting with the main computer. So then I restart it and it usually works ok the first time I connect. If a disconnect and come back a while later it will connect but the only page that will open is the home page and nothing else will so I have to start over again. Anyone know what may be causing this? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Josh

Now, when I connect to the internet, my CPU Usage shoots all the way up in the 80-100 % range. When I look at the processes, it is one of the svchost.exe that is doing it. Anyone know what the problem may be?

Just an update, I ran Spybot S&D and it took a bunch off. But when I connect to the internet, it still is 70-80+%. When I ran Spybot again, there was one that keeps showing up that wont delete. It is called DSO Exploit. Anyone know what to try next?

Try these: http://www.nsclean.com/dsostop.html
DCOMbobulator: http://grc.com/default.htm

And run Spybot from safe mode-F8

I tried those but the DSO Exploit still comes up when I run Spybot and the CPU Usage is still real high. On Spybot, it gives you the option of jumping to the location of the DSO Exploit. Can I delete the registry that it brings up or will that mess my comp up? Any other suggestions?

Get patches to windows
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/da/default.asp

It is harmless when you have patched windows

You should be able to fix in registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0]
"1004"=dword:00000003
If you click on - 1004 set value to 3
Reboot

http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/registry.htm
Just in case

Ok, when I bring up the thing to edit it, it says Value Name and Value Data. Value Data is what I change, correct? I really appreciate all the help.
