well i have windows xp home edition. and if you press ctrl + alt + delete, windows task manager pops up.
and if you click on users, you can log people off.
and my brother keeps logging me off when i'm away. is there any way i could make it so he can't? |

Hi. [Windows key] + L will lock your XP system - just make sure your brother doesn't know your password! I think the system can be unlocked by any administrator account, so make sure he doesn't have those details either. I think that should work...

we each have our own accounts, and whenever i switch users and go away he logs on and when his account loads up, he goes to windows task manager, users, and logs me off
we each have passwords, but he still logs me off because in his head he thinks
A) its funny
b) i've been on too long (i haven't)
lol anyway... any ideas? |

Your account type needs to be 'computer administrator'.
If it is, then you can downgrade your brother's account type to 'limited' (in: Control panels>User accounts).
Then, you can still use Fast User Switching, but your brother wont be able to log you off like he does now when he logs on - your account name simply wont appear in the Users tab of Task Manager (only another computer administrator account can log you off).
Note: if your brother is logged on when you change his account, the change wont take effect until he logs off and logs on again. Also, if your account type is not computer administrator, you wont be able to do this.
Make sure you have a password and keep it secret from your brother!
Does that work? |
