|
|
Are people who are completely clueless allowed to get help here? Because that's me... The classic end-user that doesn't know the first thing about how to fix a problem and doesn't understand half of what I read here!
I have two problems. First -- I get the 404 Page Not Found error in Internet Explorer (6.0) anytime I try to use the search function of Yahoo or MSN regardless of what I search for. For some reason, I CAN use the search function of Google, but only after going to google.com and getting redirected to a new link with a message about some QHost problem. I tried downloading this supposed QHost fix from microsoft, but it said it only applied to Windows Family 2003.
Second, when I boot up my computer I get an error titled OPXPAPP.EXE, also when I shut down the computer, although it doesn't seem to affect anything in between.
And while I'm here, I might as well ask -- my default home page for using Internet Explorer keeps changing itself to something bizarre that I don't want, no matter how many times I reset it in Options to msn.
I have Windows XP Home Edition if that matters.
Thanks to anyone that can help me. |

Welcome to both of you. We need a snapshot of your running processes..........but First:
Virus=Read This: http://www.computercops.biz/postt8864.html
HiJack= Read This: http://www.computercops.biz/postt911.html
Download : HiJack This http://computercops.biz/zx/phoenix22/hijackthis.zip
Create and Unzip to a folder (using a piece of software like: Winzip)
not your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log in a text file, and then cut and paste it in the CCSP "Spyware - Hijack Related" forum:
http://computercops.biz/forum67.html
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
PLease don't post your log more than once, to do so is confusing and adds to the time before you will be helped
