I have Windows 2000. ZA is telling me that fsclient.exe, narrhook.exe and odtext32.exe are asking for server rights which I won't allow. Can I eliminate these programs and not worry about system dependencies? |

Prudent of you not to grant server rights to these programs. In fact, very few programs need server rights to function properly.
I've not found in information as to the purpose of these applications which leads me to wonder if they may be associated with a virus, trojan, or other malware. I'd do a virus scan and pest scan to see if anything pops up.

i have had some things which i believe were undetectable;
the system has just been re-installed and before that this is what zone alarm stopped for me:
microsoft volume shadow copy service is trying to access the internet,destination is167.168.2;;;
my ISP!
com surrogate is trying to accessthe internet ms dts console program trying to act as a server sourcei.p.0.0.0.0 port3425.
when the first one started i stopped it ,only to be followed by the others all in just a few seconds.
wish i could get my zone alarm back.

I did a Google and found http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/index...opic=44319 on Narrhook.exe. It looks as if it might be a Trojan Horse according to what I've read. If you haven't done so, you might consider d/l Hijack This, http://www.siena.edu/antivirus/Spyware/hijackthis.htm, running it, and copying your results to this site. That might help determine what's really going on. I can't tell you anything about the other 2 as they don't show anything when Googling.

Did a TrendMicro scan which eliminated feclient.exe( I must have read the name wrong) as a Trojan. Will try pestscan and hijackthis next. |
