My computer is acting up:

When I click on a hyperlink sometimes it will not open but instead the hyperlink is sent to my taskbar. I can click on the webpage in my taskbar and nothing happens. I can't right click it to open upthe close option. The only way I can get rid of it is to restart my computer.

I have adaware, spybot search & Destry, spy sweeper installed.
I have Pop Up Stopper Pro, and Google toolbar installed.

I have the following programs on my computer now that seem to all have been installed on 6/1/04 without my knowledge:
actuve akert
CSync (Clock Sync)
Internet Optimizer
ISTsvc
Media Motor
Tcl8.0.5 for windows
xxxTiikbar'
Power Scan
Lacos Scan (I think I have deleted this though) hopefully.

I tried to delete some of these but would not allow me to saying that the disc in full or in use.

Some of them do not show up under Add or remove programs but they do show up as a file in Program Files.

Please advise me what I can do and if the above listed programs are in fact spyware or something that should not be on my computer.

Thanks,

Forgot to mention I am running Windows XP Home and I.E. 6.0 SP1

I just found this forum and hope you can help............I know I have listed a lot but I do need help........

Hi there,

The programs you listed are known spyware programs.

They are not easily removed by programs such as ad-aware or spybot.

In order to remove them, you need to download download : HijackThis located at http://computercops.biz/zx/phoenix22/hijackthis.zip

Create and Unzip to a folder not your Desktop or the Temp folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, then copy and paste the contents of your Hijack This log here, and i'll tell you what to do.

Good Luck!

hi,

heres what you need select in your hijackthis log, and then click fix selected when youve selected them all:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)

when you have fixed those, you need to restart your computer in safe mode (do this by tapping f8 lots when your computer restarts)

when you are in safe mode, you must find this files and delete it:-

C:\WINDOWS\System32\weejrxkl.exe

when you have deleted them, empty the recycle bin and restart your computer normally.

scan your computer again with hijackthis, and paste back a new log here.

good luck with all that! Smile

hi again,

unfortunately there are two that persist:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {000020DD-C72E-4113-AF77-DD56626C6C42} - C:\WINDOWS\twaintec.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cmcxvxv] C:\WINDOWS\System32\weejrxkl.exe

fix those, and restart your computer in safe mode again. you must find these files and delete them:

C:\WINDOWS\twaintec.dll (dont worry if its not there)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\weejrxkl.exe

when you have deleted them, restart your computer and paste a new log.

are you having any problems deleting them?

Norbie, I did not have any trouble deleting the file either time.

This time weejrxkl.exe did not show up.
This time twaintec.dll showed up and showed it was created on 6/2/04 10:56 A.M.
Looks like somewhere I go is reinstalling it on my computer.
I just went to some websites searching for a hard drive and to www.After Dawn.com and www.decrypter.com/forum.
Of course I went to Computer Cops.
