God bless the soul of whoever can give me advice to fix my problem. The other week my computer begin to experience an awful awful sluggishness. It would run great a bit, if at all, when I started it up, but then all of a sudden, without warning, everything would run painfully slowly and my memory usage would jump up to like 100% and stay there the whole time. My computer was worthless and their was no way to fix it. I think it started happening when I opened a bad video clip which asked me to download a license of some sort for Windows Media Player cause immediately after a porn window popped up. I started running virus scans, even running a virus scan with a new trial version of Norton Anti-Virus with updated virus definitions, no luck. Adaware fixed nothing. Systems security suite didn't work. Finally I downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy and found a ton of problems, cleared them, and then, for a moment, my computer was fine. It was the longest period of time my computer had been normal, but soon thereafter, it was messed up again. So I ran a system check with Spybot again, only this time instead of dozens of problems, I only found 5, and they were all under the category of DSO Exploits. Since they were affecting my registry, I naturally figured this is the problem, so I fixed them, and again, my computer was in the clear for the moment. Also, I got the automatic updates that pop up in the tool bar for Windows, which I believe had IE security updates that at the time I assumed would fix the problem. However, despite fixing the problem with Spybot, and despite the Windows Updates, the slowness would occur again after a while, and the DSO Exploits would show up again in the Spybot searches. I apologize for the long winded details, but I figure this will allow my potential hero and my computer's potential savior to adequately determine the cause of my problem. So to anyone who thinks they can answer this, how do I stop this sluggishness from continually reoccuring, and if this is related to the DSO Exploits, how do I fix them for good? I'm starting to consider giving up and reformatting, which I really would hate to have to do. Thanks for your patience and replies; I look forward to reading them.
Regards,
Mark

A Lot of things can cause your computer to slow down run "regedit"
"start->Run>Regedit"
alot of uninstalled programs leave stuff in the registry therfore causing the computer to slow down.
Also Get CrapCleaner from http://ccleaner.jump.to/
your description was long but failed to highlight any problems.
go to "start->Run->msinfo32" click on File->Export save as a .txt file on your desktop and send it to me in an email .
Then i can search through it to find any potential problems. |
