Hey, like the subject implies, my CPU is running at much too high a % than it should. I have 512 RAM. I also noticed that certain programs like MSN or internet sometimes randomly freeze. Here is my log, can you find anything?

Hi Elevorett,
All I could find is this & Limewire:
Limewire installs adware on your system. I would reccomend uninstalling it, but that is up to you. The adware entry in the log that limewire installs, I will put in bold.
Run HJT and have it fix these entries:
O3 - Toolbar: My &Search Bar - {0494D0D9-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\myBar\1.bin\MYBAR.DLL
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LimeShop] javaw -cp "C:\Program Files\LimeShop\System\Code" Main lp: "C:\Program Files\LimeShop"
NOTE: The above entry is installed with Limewire, your P2P program. Fixing this with HijackThis will cause Limewire to no longer run. If you do this, then uninstall Limewire also.
Go into Add/Remove Programs (Start/Settings/Control Panel) and uninstall anything that says myway, mybar, or speedbar.
Restart into safe mode and make sure you can see Hidden & System files and then delete this folder:
C:\Program Files\MyWay
Restart your system and see how it's running.
If it's still running slow, make sure all programs are closed, open task manager (Start/Run and enter in taskmgr and hit OK) Click on the Processes tab and then click on the CPU header to sort the processes in order of cpu usage. The top one should be System Idle Process. Give me the names of the processes that are over 20%.
About Limewire: This P2P, like so many, are bundled with addware/spyware that will impact system performance, especially while on-line. I would reccomend uninstalling it becasue of this, but at the very least you should configure it to run only when you need it, and not on startup of your system.
There are a couple good free alternatives to P2P. Try these out: Shareaza & BitTorrent (only get this from the maker's site). Do a search for them in google. Both work well, and no adware/spyware! |
