Use Taskmanager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) to end these running processes if you can
(or use Process Explorer)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hcrmtin.exe
Use Start > Run and copy the following lines into the box - click OK
regsvr32 /u "C:\WINDOWS\systb.dll"
Run HijackThis again, push Scan and place a check mark next to the following items using your mouse.
Next, close all browser Windows, and push the 'Fix checked' button in HijackThis

Empty the TIF (Temporary Internet Files)
To do so use Control Panel > Internet Options(or right click the IE icon on the desktop and choose Properties)
Click Delete Files on the General Tab - place a check in the Delete all offline content box and then press OK
Delete all the files in (and any subfolders of) the C:\Windows\Temp\ folder
Set your Explorer up using the info in this link so that hidden and System files are visible
Also Uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types" box
Delete the following files: (the first two will likely be gone and HJT will have them as backups)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hcrmtin.exe
Delete the following folder completely:
c:\installer\
Reboot to normal mode
Download the latest version of Ad-Aware at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
After installing AAW, and before running the program, you NEED to FIRST update the reference file following these instructions.
Now do the following:
- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."
- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."
Press "Scan Now"
- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:
Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives...
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys.
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"
Now press "Next" again.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.
Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot. |

I can use task manager - but I am not sure which running process' I should end.
As I supposed to find and end C:\WINDOWS\System32\hcrmtin.exe?
As you can probably tell - I am a novice at this.

I completed the instructions. Everything went well. When deleting file
C:\Windows\System32\hcmtin.exe
I also noticed that there was a second file with a similar name. It was
HCRMIN.EXE-IF32D55E.pf C:\Windows\prefetch
I did not delete this second file - but wanted to let you know it was there.

You can delete that or not - it's harmless in itself. It's a windows prefetch file with information about the loading of the ugly.
The only time it may come into play is if something tries to bring that file back from system restore
You can flush your system restore by turning it off for a boot then turning it back on to make a fresh restore point if you think there's a possibility that the system may ressurect the file.

Hello,
i am trying to open a few different programs on the computer that was recently repaired and i am getting the following error:
System Error &H80040111 (-2147221231). ClassFactory cannot supply the requested class
Can this be related to the repairs I made - or is it possibly a new attack by the items that we removed earlier?
The programs that I am trying to open worked perfectly fine earlier - after the repairs were completed.
Please advise if you can

probably means something new.
Can you tell me which programs give rise to the error? (if it's sensitive PM me)
My first guess is that it's scripting related or email related.

I ran McAfee and it came up with the following problems
C:\SystemVolumeInformation\_restore... followed by a large row of numbers and letters
The following items were found by McAfee and deleted
Trojan - Adclicker-0.dldr (3 instances)
Adware - searchecntrex (2 instances)
Then I opened AdAware 6 and updated the referance file and ran AW6 - 2 files found and deleted
clearsch
VX2 BetterInternet
Then I ran HJTB and this is the log
