|

Hi all,
I have what I think is the latest version of B9. Originally it ran really well (at least I think it does because I don't see obvious things like 'Major Alert: this email is trying to drop a DLL onto your system!" type message. Just goes about its business quietly.
Anyway, On OE I often get an error message that says the pop 3 server has reset ... yada yada ... reasons include proplonged peiod of inactivity etc. I did a lot of silly things until I took the B9 addition off my incoming server address and then removed my account from B9 altogether. All downloaded easily.
Then I would import the acouns angain and it would go for a while until this repeated itself. Sometimes several times a day.
Is this 'normal'? And is there something I can do to fix it apart from what I do now, which is essentially to remove it from the loop and risk a few emails with no protection?
Thanks all,
Mike C

I started to get the same problems yesterday. Both my email accounts had problems with the pop3, re-importing them did not help. It was running fine before that for months.
This morning I manually took off the b9 extension, worked fine for one account. Then I think I tried re-importing the details, seems OK now on one account.
The other one is not there, I'm not ruling out a temp problem with the mail server, but that's when I started looking here for info.
Thought this thread was my answer, but it appears the answer or suggestion is 'restricted'.
If there is something to look into, please can the suggestion be posted, or a PM to me too? Thanks. |

By removing the b9 extension on the account info, the mail came straight through, so it was not a mail server problem. |

Hello, I have identical problems to those mentioned. I would appreciate some help as I like the software but it is not delivering the goods. It is "off" most of the time. What I mean it is supposed to be on but is not functioning properly. I have posted for 2 or 3 days asking for help, I had one reply which obviously has not mended the problem.

I am having the exact same problem. I just finished formatting and reinstalling XP Pro. Before the format, my pop3 account was always dropping the connection. Same damned problem after the format. I have uninstalled B9 untill someone can help me resovle this issue. I really want to be able to use B9 with MWP, but after at least 6 install/uninstalls and a format, I am almost ready to give up. I wish I would have tried the 30 freebie instead of actually paying for it. Hopefully some one here in the forum has a valid solution. Firetrust should REALLY address this issue!! |

Lonestar66 here is a tempory fix until b9 is sorted out.
Wee bit of work but at least it works.

At the moment b9 is better with MSOE or MSOutlook if you want to see your results.

Hamster I am having the exact same issues as mcullet, is there a solution?
Thanks ranwindstar, but that solution seems not to work either. |

I installed Benign but am having a number of problems. Initially I couldn't send or receive my e-mail. In the process of trying to determine what had caused this I discovered that the program had attached a B9 to the pop3 address. When I removed this the e-mail started to flow again but, of course, B9 stopped working.
I have read the FAQ's and gather it may be a problem with my firewall. I have a Norton Internet security firewall. Could anyone give me the rule I need to install on this firewall to enable B9 to work. This seems to be a popular topic in this forum if it is not the firewall is there another fix? |

Do you use SpyBlocker? I discovered that was my problem, I have to add b9 settings to hosts file manually each time I start-up.

I take it you confirmed that SpyBlocker is resetting your host file? Does SpyBlocker not allow you to make changes to the host file? That's awfully arrogant. I realize that it's trying to protect you but it should allow for the possibility that you want to change the host file for some legit reason (such as getting B9 to work). I'd check your SpyBlocker documentation and contact them if there's no accommodation apparent.
Perhaps you could disable SpyBlocker while making changes or make chages in Safe Mode. It must be a PITA having to make changes to the host file each time you reinitialize your machine.

Ikeb, I uninstalled SpyBlocker and tried once to work without it, add changes to hosts file, closed computer down and fired up again and all was well to go. Maybe I should have tried a few times to get a truer picture.
It is a bit of a nuisance alright, I have hosts file shortcut on desktop, also
a .txt with changes in it, so all I have to do is copy settings to hosts file.
