I wonder if something has hijacked my computer. Each time I reboot the toolbar resets, meaning I have to resize the quick launch area, reset the programs launching and uncheck the search assistant on the toolbar options. This started happening out of the blue. Any ideas?

It was not solved by following the procedure above.

Now I found it. It is really simple.
Just remove WINDOWS SA (search assistant) via software (add/remove programs) in the control panel.
