In MW, navigate Help>About then doubleclick on the link below "Enable extended ..." Doing so will open an explorere window in the MW data directory.

CLOSE MW.

Copy the blacklist.txt out of the directory opened in the first step to your target machine. MW shouldn't be running on the target machine when you copy.

Note that the blacklist.txt includes BOTH the friends list AND the blacklist.

You can move the filters file as well as the 3 training files too.

This post was helpful since I am trying to do the same thing... but even though I copied the file into the Mailwasher file folder my blacklist is not showing. It was not open when I copied the file. Is there another place I was supposed to copy it to? My list is long and I have a new computer I need it on. Thanks for any help - 1 am in Alaska - I am going to bed for now - will check back tomorrow. Thanks.

First, I suppose you should look at the file with notepad (it's text) to make sure you copied the information you expected.

If it's correct, then depending on how you setup the new computer (and the OS of the old machine), the MW data directory on the new machine isn't necessary the same path as on the old machine.

To find the correct place on the new machine:

In MW on the new machine, navigate Help>About then doubleclick on the link below "Enable extended ..." Doing so will open an explorere window in the MW data directory.

CLOSE MW.

Copy the blacklist.txt into the directory opened in the first step. MW shouldn't be running when you copy.

I see the following FIVE training files in my folder:

Training.dat
Training archive - legitimate.rot135
Training archive - legitimate.mbox
Training archive - junk.rot135
Training archive - junk.mbox

Should all of them be copied to the new computer?

Also, what do these files do?

Thanks

Dave

The .rot135 ones are the currnent version training files. They're slightly encrypted so that virus scanners won't get angry when you enter virus-ridden emails into you traing files. The .mbox files were used by the old version and can be safely deleted.

So copy the three following:
Training.dat
Training archive - legitimate.rot135
Training archive - junk.rot135
